I am sitting here waiting for everyone around here to wake up and start the crazy day.
We had Christmas #1 last night at Jennifer and Lamar's house. We had just Pops and Lolly and our kids and grandkids. We had chili, tamales, king ranch, queso, strawberry cake and sugar cookies that the girls helped decorate. The kids opened their gifts from each other and they gave us our gifts from them. We played games, including Guitar Hero, which I did not think was that fun.
This is a new tradition for us as in the past, we would go to church and then go out to dinner. I love going to a church that has 20+ services, so we have lots of choices. We decided to go on Saturday night and have a low key Christmas Eve. We all had fun and I think that will become one of our new traditons.
This morning, they will all come over here and open up the gifts from us. We got the girls a barbie jeep, so I am sure we will be making many trips up and down the street. After we get the paper and boxes cleaned up, we will call my mother in law and she will come over. I will cook our Christmas breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, gravy, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, blueberry cream cheese rolls and orange juice. After that, we don't need anything to eat for the rest of the day.
We will then open up gifts from my mother in law. I will start cooking for Christmas dinner. At around 5, we will go to my mothers to have Christmas with my side of the family. That includes my parents, my brother and his wife and 2 kids, my sister and her husband and 5 kids. 4 of her kids are married and between them they have 6 kids. Add into that our family of 9. Just let me say, it gets really crazy. Then we will have dinner. My mother in law will join us there for dinner.
I am making a ham, sausage dressing, green bean casserole, potato casserole and cherry cheese cake. It is an exhausting day, but I am excited about it. I am so blessed to have a great family to share it with.
Do you think I could possibly get a little nap in there?
I hope you have a fun Christmas day filled with great memories.
