Do You Really Want To Eat That???

I try to be friendly and talk to people when I am out and about.

Monday, I met a friend for dinner and told Pops I would bring him something home. I forgot to get something at the restaurant, so I decided to pick him up a hamburger at a local fast food restaurant, that I won't name.

I placed my order and drove up to the window. The conversation went like this:

Me: Hi, how are you?

Her: Good, could you hear me okay? People have been complaining about my voice all day being too soft. I am talking as loud as I can. I have been sick for 4 days and I can't talk.

Me: Oh I'm sorry, I know a lot of people have been sick lately. It might be allergies, a lot of people have been complaining about them.

Her: I don't know, I am a severe asthmatic. My boyfriend and I keep passing it back and forth to each other. He had it about 2 months ago, then I got it, he got it again, and now I have it. We don't live together, but he spends the night at my place a couple of nights a week. We don't live together now, but he is going to move in. I am going to the Dr. tomorrow. I have insurance, but he doesn't since he is self employed. I think after I go to the Dr. tomorrow, I am going to go home and bleach everything. Hope that will get rid of all of the germs. We have had a lot of ants lately and I am thinking that the bleach might get rid of them. I don't know any other way to get rid of the ants.

Me: I hope you feel better.

I am thinking, that is WAY too much information.

Do I really want to eat any food that she has touched??? I am thinking there are some massive germs involved if it has been going on this long and now the ants are attacking. You think it could be the Swine Flu?

Oh well, it wasn't for me and Pops didn't know about this conversation, so he will be okay.

Landrie's Graduation

On Thursday, we had the first of many graduations for Miss Landrie. It is funny to think that my last child graduated on Saturday, and now I have started the grandchildren graduations. Landrie graduated from St. Timothy's. That is the preschool that Janelle went to. Her teacher's grandson is in Landrie's class. I saw Ms. Barb yesterday and she couldn't believe that Janelle was out of college. It is a small world.

They had a really cute ceremony and gave the kids Bible's and diplomas. Landrie had me reading the Bible stories right after she came home.

I am so proud of my little girl and her Mommy.

She Did It!

Since 1994, someone in my house has been in college. Pops went back to school in 1994. Jennifer started in 1998 and it has been constant with one or more in school, until Saturday. I am beyond thrilled that I have now been labeled, the dumbest person in the house. I have been teasing the kids because they all got their Bachelors in Behavior Science, a Bachelors in BS. I am so proud of every one of them. They all persevered and worked hard, even when they just didn't feel like it.

It felt so good to see Janelle cross the stage. She has done very well in school, but you are always worried that they are going to come back and say, oh you were one hour short, or you needed a different class. She is really done!!!! Yeah!!!!!

She has a job that I know she will really enjoy. Very unconventional, but very fun. She will be moving to Ohio, but she will be traveling back home quite often. It will be just like she was in Abilene. Instead of a short drive in the car, it will be a short ride in the plane.

Yeah Janelle, we are so proud of you and love you very much!!!

Conversation With Landrie

I love this kid! She is always saying the funniest things.

This afternoon, she said, "Um, Lolly, I need to talk to you upstairs in private." Since Jennifer and Karsyn were in the room, I thought she was going to talk to me about a Mother's Day surprise for Jennifer. We went back into my bedroom.

She said, "Could I have a piece of candy?" Of course, I said yes. I have special candy for the girls and they know that I will always let them have it. Jennifer does not always say yes, so Landrie has gotten to where she asks me when Jennifer is not around.

She then said, "Thanks! Giving me candy is just like giving a dog a treat."
