Happy Father's Day

I have 3 fathers to be so thankful for on this Father's Day. I am so thankful for my Heavenly Father that I came to know in a special way when I was 13. He has been the perfect example of everything a father should be.

I am so blessed to have my own father. He is 80 years old and probably the Godliest man I know. He is one of the kindest people I know. He never says a bad word about anyone. He is the most disciplined person that I know. About 35 years ago, he quit eating meat and felt so good that he never ate it again. I have never seen him eat a dessert. He still rides his bike several miles a day and runs several miles a day, no matter what the weather is.

At 80, he is still working hard every day at his own business. He is an engineer that designs foundations. I don't think he will ever quit because he is not the type to sit around.

He has been a great example in the way he loves my Mother unconditionally, serves in his church and absolutely loves his 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In knowing my father for 50 years, I can't ever remember a Sunday that he did not attend church. Not because he "had" to, but because he wanted to. I have always been so proud that he is my Father.

When I was looking for a husband and who I wanted to be the father of my children, the bar was set high. The man would have big shoes to fill. At 15 he might not have looked like he was the ideal candidate, but I knew he was the man for me.

He has more than filled the shoes. His number one quality is that he adores me and loves our children. They are all so proud of their Dad. There is no doubt whatsoever that he is the greatest father they could ever ask for. Even now that they are are grown, they each love to have their one on one time with him. They all consider themselves "his favorite" and his friend.

He has modeled for them what it is to be a great person, husband, father, friend and grandfather. I am so blessed to have him in my life.

I often wonder why God has chosen to bless me the way He has. I could have been born to a poor family in Africa or to a family of non-Christians living in China or India, or I could have been an orphan. Why am I so blessed? I don't have the answers, I just know that I am so very thankful for the people in my life and the life He has given me.

Wonderful tribute Lolly. You ARE truly blessed. And your family is blessed by having you.

By the way, you are the fifth person I have heard that is going to Scotland! My sister-in-law and bother-in-law are going in August.
Must have been some really good rates to Scotland this year! :)

I bet we have the best rates of everyone. We have some great friends who own a castle/hotel and they are taking us. They and another couple are going to Switzerland first, but since we have already been there and I don't want to be gone too long, we opted out of Switzerland. We will go to London for a few days and meet them at the airport to head to Switzerland.
