Our last stop was Philadelphia. I have to say, it will not go down in history as one of my favorite places. It was hot and dirty and I am not a big history fan. We didn't have any food that stood out as too great.
When we travel, we like to eat at places that we can't go to at Home. We like to try the local favorites. The first night we ate at a famous place called DiNardo's. It was supposed to be wonderful. All I can say is that Red Lobster is better than DiNardo's. Since we struck out so bad, we ended up eating at two of our old time favorites, Smith and Wollensky and Maggiano's. They were both good.
There was a really neat place we ate lunch at call the Reading Terminal Market. It was at the bottom of the old train station and it had about 100 booths with everything from farmers markets, ice cream, bakeries, Philly Steak sandwiches and so forth. One deli we ate at was Herschel's. They served pastrami, roast beef, corned beef and turkey. The big difference was that it was freshly baked right there, not your typical deli meat. They piled the meat on the sandwich.
Monday was the most interesting day of my trip.

Philadelphia looks great next to Pittsburgh, in my opinion. :) So it could have been worse.
Then again, I love history and I have great memories of doing museum stuff in Philly with my brownie troop when I was a kid.
