Tragic Accidents - Updated

July 2nd - From what I understand, Braden has moved to a rehab facility in Dallas. That is great news as he means his injury is healed enough to proceed with getting him back to his old self. Zach is still in the hospital, but is having a little feeling when pinched. Please continue to keep these boys and their families in your prayers.

After Chris and Lauren's wedding Saturday night, Chris' little brother Zach headed home. He had just served as the best man for their wedding. He was to leave on a church mission trip Sunday morning to New Orleans.

Tragically, Zach fell asleep on the way home and had an accident. He woke up as his truck was flipping. He is now in Scott and White Hospital with a broken neck and crushed spinal cord. He is paralyzed from the chest down and the prognosis is not good, but we know that our God can heal. Please keep Zach and in your prayers.

Justin has a friend from high school that has also been involved in an accident. Braden was the quarterback at Trinity and went on to play football at UT. He had an accident while wakeboarding over Memorial day weekend. He did not seek medical treatment at that time, but as his headache became progressively worse, he went to the ER a couple of weeks later. At that time, they found out he had a fractured skull and brain bleed. He had surgery and at that point went downhill. He had another surgery to remove part of his skull to relieve the pressure on Wednesday. He has gone from very grave to being awake and alert much faster than expected, but he still has a long way to go.

Justin went to see him yesterday and Braden recognized him and could communicate on a limited basis. He has made a miraculous recovery, but he is still in ICU facing more surgery and has a long way to go. Please keep Braden in your prayers.

I can't even begin to imagine what these parents are going through. Please pray for their families as well.

I am so sorry for this tragedy. Your friends are in our prayers. It is so tragic when you hear of young people who are suffering from such accidents. If we can visit them at S&W, please let us know.
