Integrity

What is integrity? I think it is when you do the right thing, no matter who is watching or whether anyone is going to know what you did.

The move last night was quick. Pops and Justin don't like to mess around. Jordan and her friend had everything ready to go and it was a matter of loading the furniture to the trailer from the upstairs apartment and piling all the other stuff into her car and mine.

Since the eviction notice on Monday night, Jordan has never heard from Jeremy. She called him numerous times and he didn't return her calls, and he didn't come home Monday night. Last night, when he finally came home and saw that she had moved out, he called. He was mad at her, said the eviction notice was no big deal and she over reacted. He said he wanted the 2nd half of her rent money.

His lease is up on April 30th. Jordan originally told him she was moving out on the 18, but she would pay her rent through the 30th. Technically, since she had to move out on the 8th, I don't think she owes him another penny. She is actually paid for rent for 15 days and she only lived there 8. I don't know if he is planning on paying for the back rent and staying through the 30 or not. He might still have to be out by tomorrow, but he still wants the 2nd half of the rent money.

She was upset when he called last night and we talked about how she really didn't owe him the money since the circumstances changed.

About an hour later, she came downstairs and said regardless of what has happened, she wanted to do the RIGHT thing. She originally made a commitment to pay through the 30th and she is going to honor her word. She said, "I don't care what he does with the money, but I want to know that I kept my word and did what was right."

I am so proud of her. She works for a non-profit organization and doesn't make a lot of money. She will essentially be paying double rent for the 2nd half of April, but she will be doing the "right" thing.

That is integrity. As her mother, it makes me so proud to see my adult children step up and live a Godly life.
